GLAD MATTER is an art-based social enterprise project founded by Holly McWhorter, an interdisciplinary artist and designer based in Brooklyn, New York.
One of our TWO top missions is to lift moods and brighten days with joyful art, in the form of not only prints, but other fun stuff like tees and pillows. After all, why limit art to your walls?
Our other top mission is to help bring about awareness and equity surrounding mental health issues. Far too many people have little, if any, access to the mental healthcare they need—for reasons both economic and societal. We want to increase access to mental healthcare and also help remove the stigma associated with needing it.
With that in mind, once every quarter, we will donate 20% of the profits from Glad Matter sales to a nonprofit whose efforts are focused on increasing access to mental healthcare.
These organizations will rotate as needs shift, but at the time of our founding, they are here below:
Organizations We Support
The Loveland Foundation was established in 2018 by Rachel Cargle, in response to her widely successful birthday wish fundraiser, Therapy for Black Women and Girls. Her enthusiastic social media community raised over $250,000, which made it possible for Black women and girls nationally to receive therapy support. Through fellowships, residency programs, listening tours, and more, ultimately they hope to contribute to both the empowerment and the liberation of the communities they serve.
Based in Ukraine, Voices of Children gives psychological and psychosocial support to children who have suffered as a result of war operations in Ukraine. They also help families to cope with the everyday difficulties, treatment and rehabilitation needs of their children, offering individual support to the children themselves.
Their objective is that every child who has suffered from the war in Ukraine will get psychological help in time.
The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people.
They (and we) believe that LGBTQ young people deserve a welcoming, loving world. And they wake up every day dedicated to making that a reality.
For 50 years, Vibrant Emotional Health (formerly the Mental Health Association of New York City), has been at the forefront of promoting emotional well-being for all people—regardless of their financial or social means, and focusing on those in our hometown, NYC.
They work every single day to help people get emotional care anytime, anywhere and in any way that works for them. They are unwavering in their belief that everyone can achieve emotional wellness with the right care and support.
All items going to US destinations ship free of charge via regular (not expedited) methods. Processing generally takes between 2 and 4 business days, and delivery time is typically 2 to 5 business days.
At this time, we are unable to expedite processing or shipping faster than this. We're working on it, though!
For orders placed in the US, standard delivery is via the US
Postal Service (USPS) or UPS.
For printed orders placed in other countries, in most cases the order will be printed and shipped either in that same country via the national postal service, or the national postal service of a nearby country.
